1 – Salvos
These charity shops are seemingly ubiquitous around the suburbs of Perth, and allowed for us to get numerous food storage containers, clothes, fabric (for curtains), pillows and other numerous items for a cheap price.
2 – The Scrappie (scrap yard recycling shops)
Some scrap yards such as the ‘Balcatta Recycling Centre’ have a shop where they sell perfectly good items that people have thrown away. When kitting out our van, we bought a propane cooker, two camping chairs, three guidebooks and some cooking utensils all for under $35!
3 – Red Dot
If you would rather buy new cooking utensils, then ‘Red dot’ is the ideal shop to acquire super cheap value products to kit out your kitchen. The only downside to Red Dot is the lack of variety.
4 – Kmart
Kmart is a good place to pick up cooking utensils for a cheap price. It is slightly more costly than Red Dot but allows more options if you want different sizes of pots and pans.
They also sell quality, budget plastic storage containers.
5 – Kings 4×4 Supercentre
The ultimate 4×4 adventure store is Kings 4×4 Supercentre! Here you can pick up a second battery for your vehicle, control units, solar panels, roof tents, fridges and any other camping products that you require to live off the grid for a period of time.
6 – Bunnings
Bunnings is ideal for picking up timber, tools and various gadgets to convert a van and utilise your space. It is the Australian equivalent to the UK based DIY Chain B&Q.
Plus, If you visit on a bank holiday or a weekend you may find local charities and clubs fundraising by selling cheap but tasty hotdogs outside the store. These tasty attractions are known as ‘Snags’ to the locals!
